Creating

kinder

spaces for all.

Kinderpublic is an interdisciplinary design consultancy focusing on intersectional inclusivity and accessibility for the built environment.

We offer architectural and urban design services alongside our podcast Towards a Kinder Public and the K-P Membership program. We were founded at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation (GSAPP) Incubator at the New Museum in New York City.

How can we help people get around the city more easily?

Our design practice centers on intersectional and equity-oriented spatial strategies to help communities improve how spaces are experienced by all. We are dedicated to environmentally, socially and culturally sustainable design practices that address the needs of different user groups navigating the challenges of city life.

We believe in the societal benefits of going beyond minimum legislative and building code requirements to broaden and redefine the definition of inclusivity for the built environment. Inclusive accommodations and amenities can address the intersecting needs of diverse peoples with complex identities.

Architectural spaces should aim to be adaptable, flexible and fluid. In order to create kinder and more people-oriented environments, we prioritize the interconnected qualities that shape how a place is experienced. We take into consideration how the public interfaces with different spaces everyday and how these interactions impact their quality of life.

Kinderpublic is committed to designing for positive social impact and striving for creative solutions to help enhance access for all.
